After a period of eight months, Katie Holmes and Emilio Vitolo Jr. are not officially all together, and a source says their relationship is gone until their breakup.

The alum of the 42-year-old Dawson Creek and the cook, 33 years of age, recently agreed to divide. However, on Thursday, a spokesman for Holmes told us that the exes wanted to remain friends.

"The two have divided their way friendly but remain friends," was quoted by the news agency.

A source of information about what happened between the two told the publication that because of their busy lives they had difficulty making their relationship work.

"Katie and Emilio had a lot of fun with them — it didn't really work out. It focuses on becoming a mother and her future projects," said the source. On the other hand, Vitolo works at the Emilio's Ballato restaurant in New York with his family.

Page Six recorded that the romance between Holmes and Vitolos flared until they broke up. From the insider the outlet heard that the actriz thought it was "going quickly and it was difficult for her, and as one mother to daughter Suri Cruise, she does has many great priorities.

Since Vitolo is based in New York, Holmes was hard to keep her relationship because she has work obligations in many locations. Indeed, while filming a script, she currently stays in Connecticut.
